St. Mary Magdalena - "Transformation"

St. Luke tells that she was a notorious sinner, and had seven devils removed from her. She is said to have been a prostitute before she met Jesus. When Mary Magdalene met Jesus, she wept, and anointed his feet with oil using her own hair. After his resurrection, Jesus chose to reveal himself to Mary, who transformed herself from sinner to saint through her love for Jesus. The death of Jesus and the end of his mission on earth found her persecuted by those who rejected the Christ. Along with Martha, St. Lazarus and others, she was set adrift in a boat without oars or a sail. She drifted to the south of France, where she spent the rest of her life in a cave as a contemplative ascetic. There, she lived only on water and consecrated communion wafers offered to her by angels each day. They say that she was miraculously transported to the chapel of St. Maxim in Sainte-Baume, France to receive the last rites as she left the world at the age of 72.
