LOGOS -Ancient Crosses - THE CROSS
The Cross symbolizes reconciliation with God through faith in Christ, whose life, death and Resurrection are proof of God’s forgiveness of human sin. After the conversion of Constantine the Great it became the principal symbol of Christianity and stands for both the actual Crucifixion of Christ and the concept of the Christian Church. It is also one of the oldest and most universal symbols representing both the four astrological elements of earth, water, fire and air, as well as the directions of north, east, south and west. To the North lie wisdom, silence, winter and death. To the East lie rebirth, youth, spring and growth. To the South lie vitality, vigor, summer and strength. To the West lie knowledge, experience, autumn and guidance. The Cross, thus, symbolizes both the love of Christ and the ways of the ancient people before Him.
