St. Joseph - Patron Saint of Departing Souls and The Father of Jesus
Tradition holds that Joseph died before Jesus entered public ministry. The Gospels make no mention of him. It's as though his role in the divine plan for the world's redemption came to an end before Christ left home to do God's work. And so he died at home with his wife and son at his side. To depart this world under the gaze of both Jesus and his holy mother is believed to take a person straight to heaven. For this blessing, Joseph became the patron saint of the dying.
"Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and through your Divine Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord. obtain for me all spiritual blessings so that having invoked your heavenly power here on this earth I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers."
