MITZVAH -The Hebrew Collection - MEZUZAH
The word mezuzah means doorpost in Hebrew. It comprises of a parchment called a klaf contained in a decorative case and inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah. It is affixed to the doorpost of Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to "write the words of God on the gates and doorposts of your house". The klaf parchment is prepared by a qualified scribe and the verses are written in black ink with a special quill pen. The name Shaddai, one of the Biblical names of God, is often inscribed on the back. The parchment is then rolled up and placed inside the case. The mezuzah is placed on the right side of the door or doorpost, in the upper third of the doorpost or approximately shoulder’s height, about 3 inches of the doorway opening. The purpose of a mezuzah is to function as an amulet for protection.
Pendants come on Legend Cards with a 33 inch long black cord. Fine Lead Free Pewter.
